A few of our favorite things...

Since I forgot to get B to take a 18 week belly shot before he left for his big hunting trip this weekend, I just thought I would write about a few of our favorite things. My absolute favorite food right now is Cheerios. I eat them every morning along with my yummy CranApple juice. Then, I go through at least a gallon of water per day. I am glad we are recycling, because I would feel bad for the amount of plastic bottles I am throwing away each day. We have a Brita pitcher, but there's something about the bottles that I seem to drink more.

We have received so many wonderful baby items from family and friends, so I think I will start featuring a few on the blog every now and then. The boots are called Johnny Poppers made by none other than John Deere. They were a gift from Gimme and Papa John. We got them Saturday at Lee's Kids Shoes in Peppertree. They were strategically placed right outside after we left Chappy's. B and I saw these while on our honeymoon in Gatlinburg and knew that one day we would have to have these. I like these brown leather, they are very gender neutral.

The yellow sleep sack was a Christmas gift from Mamaw and Papaw Parritt. It is so soft. I love it and I know the baby will too. I can't wait to see our little one in it.

The sweet little cow was a gift from Aunt Mary and Uncle Danny. We received it just a few weeks after we announced our pregnancy. I know C Mack will love to bring this along with him or her wherever they go. I can't wait to see what he or she may name it.

We are so grateful to our wonderful friends and family and we love sharing this experience with everyone. B and I are both busy this weekend. He left last night to go on a hunting trip with his dad and friend from Georgia and his son. I am headed to the Capital City this weekend. Tonight I am going to the movies with my friend Leigh Ann and her bridesmaids(which I am one of) to see Bride Wars. Then I will stay the night with my parents and have breakfast in the morning, then I will meet Leigh Ann once again to get my bridesmaid dress. It is a beautiful shade of pink. I am going to get it larger and have it taken up a few weeks before the big wedding on May 2nd.

Highlights from San Antonio

Here is a glimpse of our trip to San Antonio. I don't have any pictures from the discussion meets because B didn't want me to take any. While, he didn't make it to the Sweet Sixteen, he represented Alabama well. He was told this by many people and he said he was confident and felt he did his best. What more could we ask for? We were honored to have Mr. Jerry Newby, President of Alfa and Mr. Ricky Wiggins, our district president in attendance, as well as all of the other members from Alabama.

Now, on to the food...it is one of my favorite parts about traveling. I didn't think this city would offer a lot for me, well because I am not a fan of Mexican food. I did a little research on TripAdvisor and found one place that I just had to try. The Guenther House serves breakfast and lunch. It is a historic home situated next to Pioneer Flour Mills, which was founded by the Guenthers and is still in operation today. I am a biscuit freak, so I ordered biscuits and gravy and B got breakfast tacos and we split the blueberry waffle. Needless to say, we did not need lunch that day. It was a nice mile walk back to our hotel, which helped with the fullness!

Another couple from our county was there and we had dinner with them at Tower of the Americas. I have never been to one of these, but B has in Dallas. The food was delicious, even though I wasn't that hungry. I always save room for dessert, the Godiva Molten Lava Cake was so delicious, I wish they could ship me one!

One of our other favorite desserts was from Anchoite, our hotel restaurant. It was a grilled fresh pineapple with rum sauce and ice cream with toasted coconut made in the ice cream. It was totally different and delicious. This was served by one of our favorite people we met on the trip, Joseph Rodriguez. He was so pleasant and always took care of us. I think we ate at this place 4-5 times and he was always on top of things.

Speaking of people from the trip, B met a very nice man on the flight who happens to own two golf courses in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. They talked the whole flight. We pulled out his business card the other night and noticed that his last name is the same as the name of his town...hummm. Also, I was kind of laughing in my head at this guy sniffing the salad dressings as I went to get my dessert at the buffet in our hotel. I noticed this guy was tall...I'm talking all of 7 foot and he was wearing a track suit. He was sitting behind us and we heard someone ask repeatedly for an autograph. I turned around and the man was talking to Mr. Tall. It turns out he is Hedo Turkoglu, a player with the Orlando Magic. They were in town to play the Spurs and apparently stayed at our hotel. Oh yeah, the we saw Mr. I'ma buy you a drank...T-Pain on the ride home...ok, not him, but his tour bus. That excited me, but meant nothing to B!!

We had a great trip! I know it will be a while before B and I take another trip that far away for that long, so we enjoyed every moment of it.

Blue or Pink?

Countdown Clocks, Pregnancy Countdowns at WishAFriend.com

Our appointment is scheduled for February 2nd at 12:30 for the big ultrasound. Just about everyone we talk to thinks it is a girl. At our last doctor's visit, the lady making our appointment made her predicition by asking these questions. 1.) Are you gaining weight all over? No, I've lost nine pounds. 2.) Are you wearing larger underwear? No, still the same size. Prediction:It's a boy, because little boys like to get as close to their mommies as possible.

We'll see in just a short while!

Why is everything breaking?

When we returned from San Antonio, many wonderful surprises awaited us! First, our computer had a virus. I had to take it to the shop and spend a lot of money on it...but as Brett said, "it's cheaper than buying a new computer". Then, our home phone which was supposed to be connected doesn't seem to be working and on the ride home my check engine light came on in my car! I was supposed to be in a training class with my new job in a net meeting, but without a phone or computer that was impossible! So I have that rescheduled for next week...let's hope all is well by then. I'll post a something a little more positive in the next few days, this was just a quick update. I'm off to eat at Howard's Cafe (B's grandpa's restaurant). If you're ever in Covington County on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday...you should check it out. It's the best steak around, but I am really partial to the grilled shrimp...but I think little C Mack is wanting some tips tonight with a baked potato...yum, yum!

16 weeks and San Antonio bound...

Today is the big 16 week mark and I can tell a definite difference in the shape of my body. We have an appointment with Dr. G tomorrow, but I won't be able to post until we come back from San Antonio! We will head to GA after my appointment tomorrow and catch an early flight on Friday...direct, I love flying, especially direct! This picture is from the state competition in December, which B won. It was published on the back cover of the Cultivator, the Alabama Farmer's Federation newsletter. We have been practicing daily the opening and closing statements B had to memorize. This time it is four topics, not just one. Most of his events will happen on Sunday. They have it set up in sort of a bracket/playoff style, complete with a Sweet Sixteen! The participants are grouped into sets and a winner from each room will be announced to move to the next round, for a total of four rounds. I am so proud of B's accomplishments and his future and current endeavors with the Farm Bureau.

In the picture below, the shirt I am wearing is made by Shade Clothing (https://www.shadeclothing.com). I absolutely love it!! They have shirts also for those of you without the belly. It is so soft, if you know a pregant woman and need a gift for her...this is a must. The pants are Majamas Softest Yoga Pants ever...another must...but only if you find them on sale, they are kind of expensive (to me)!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend and I'll be posting again next week with the results. Oh yeah, Kristen if you happen to read between now and then, congratulations on the birth of Jack! We can't wait to meet him!

2009 Resolution

I didn't plan on making a resolution this year. I try to do better each day and think resolutions are kind of silly(for me). So I started thinking of things I would like to accomplish this year...be a better wife, eat healthier, be a good mother, and read my bible completely. I do not read the bible as often as I should. I, like a lot of people, turn to the bible during difficult times or when I need answers to specific questions. I have never really gotten into and read it daily. I got this great bible last year with weekly studies in hopes this would help in my quest. It's not the bible that you have, it's the discipline. I always find time for meaningless things (this blog for example) for not time to grow closer with the Lord. So this is my goal for 2009. I am completely excited for I know that I will gain knowledge and a better relationship with God and most likely everyone else. If you are a lady looking for a new bible, I highly recommend this one...it is the Women of Faith NIV Study Bible. I got the purple leather which I think is pretty snazzy! It contains weekly studies of the women of the bible. Did you make a resolution this year?

15 weeks

We can hardly believe that we have know we are pregnant for 9 weeks...my how time is flying. Yesterday was our 15 week mark and things seem to get better each day. I can now feel the "stretching" as I call it. I think I also felt the baby move...not an actual kick or anything, but I could feel movement.
Also, yesterday we received the first baby item that we ordered. I was so excited to open it...I know it's only a monitor! It's an Angelcare monitor that was recommended by one of our friends. We got it for $40.00 off the regular price. We also ordered a crib mattress that hasn't made it here yet. The Babycenter Store (http://www.babycenter.com) is going out of business. If you need anything, they have deals up to 80% off. You can go ahead and laugh at all that bunching elastic at the back of my pants. My regular pants are tight and maternity clothes are entirely too big. This pair has a regular waist band with elastic snaps on the inside. These are set on the smallest setting, but they're still huge. I don't look big when I look in the mirror, but I think this picture proves otherwise! The belly is growing.

We hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve. We spent it cozy in our bed. B got up early this morning and went hunting. We are going to eat some greens (for prosperity) and peas (and luck) this afternoon at Gimme and Papa John's. Yum, yum! Oh how I love the South! Happy 2009!
