32 weeks

Wednesday was my 32 week mark. We went to the doctor on Monday and Dr. G said I am still measuring exactly on my due date, which is good news. I want Little E to grow as long as she can in comfort. We are so thankful to have had such a smooth pregnancy so far. Dr. G recommended little salt and lots of water because the weather is getting warmer. He said this will keep swelling to a minimum. I also have decided to hit the walking trail hard and heavy as soon as this semester is over next week. I have read numerous times this is supposed to help with labor. I can't believe she is due in about in less than 60 days. I can remember when that counter was over 200 days.

This weekend is going to be very exciting. My friend and person who introduced B and I, Leigh Ann is getting married. She has three pregnant bridesmaids. I am so thankful she picked out a comfortable dress. The poor dear has been sick all week. I hope she is feeling better. I on the other hand was sick on the honeymoon and B was sick when we got back. It's amazing how much a wedding can take out of you!

Gotta go! I'm off to get Mother's Day gifts.

Country Roads Take Me Home...

Saturday and Sunday nights are my favorite times to listen to the radio. This is the time when all of the radio stations play back to back classic country. If you didn't know, I am from the Bluegrass State. My mom's side of the family takes this very seriously. At all of our family get togethers someone, usually my Uncle Mike and Aunt Shirley would take out the guitar and play some tunes. I can remember all the adults and kids dancing the night away at several family reunions, anniversary and birthday parties. My Aunt Kaye had a great old jukebox with original records. One of my fondest childhood memories with my sister Susie is going to Aunt Kaye's and dancing literally all day long. We probably played "The Elephant Walk" 100 times that day. My cousin, well he's really my second cousin, but cousin nonetheless, has a record deal in Nashville. Check him out on myspace www.myspace.com/scottlindseymusic . He has been in Nashville for a while, but was just signed in the fall.

All of this to say, I miss my mamaw and papaw! Those of you that know me, know that I am extremely close to them. Listening to that great classic country yesterday made me think so much about them both. I only get to see them about once, sometimes twice per year. My next time will not be until Thanksgiving. This time will be extra special as they will get to meet their 16th great grandchild!

31 down, 9 to go!

Everything is going very well. I am just plugging away with classes and trying to finish up the semester. I had class in Phenix City over the weekend. I really loved that class, actually I have loved both of my weekend classes at Phenix City. I work really well under pressure and only going for two weekends and completing a whole semester's worth of work really agrees with me. I made a 100 on my "hook activity" Powerpoint project. I was so proud! It was a math lesson that included disco...yeah, disco music! Yesterday I observed at the middle school. The teacher I observed with did a wonderful job with such a tough age group...eighth grade...eeek! Then I had class last night.

Before B left for work today he told me to take it easy today. I have followed instructions completely! The only thing I have accomplished is light housework and looking for a condo for our May beach trip. He also instructed me to start packing my hospital bag. That was just so strange to hear! I know it's not that close, but he knows that I procrastinate on these types of things...you know, better under pressure!

Yesterday I ordered the final piece needed to complete the nursery...the rocker! We also ordered the travel system. I can not wait for it all to get here. I am getting so anxious and excited. I stop in the baby section EVERY time I am at Walmart and smell the baby lotion....weirdo...I know. The other day B and I were grocery shopping and I made him stop on the baby aisle. I popped open a bottle of lotion and just sniffed it. He was like, "what are you doing?" I told him that the smell made me excited...he just smiled!

So here's what's going on this week according to BabyCenter-

Your pregnancy: 31 weeks
See the big picture
How your baby's growing:This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

Thank a Farmer!

Sunday afternoon B needed to take his uncle's spreader back to his house. So we followed him in the truck with the flashers on. We took as many back roads as possible, but we had to get on 331 South for just a little piece (his uncle lives on that road). When we turned on the road there were no cars behind us. It is a very short drive down the road to his driveway, but we ended up with a line of traffic behind us. This road is very popular for beach traffic. We slowed down for B to turn left into the driveway and this car came flying by blowing their horn. Then B turned around to check the traffic and we put on our blinker to let the traffic know he was turning. Just about the time he started to turn another car came flying by!

This just ticks me off! Most farmers are very thoughtful people and will pull over to let traffic go around them. They do not want to drive their tractors and equipment on the road, but sometimes it is necessary. If you happen to drive upon a farmer, think about what their job is! That food you had this morning didn't grow itself and that beach towel you are so eager to lay on isn't made without cotton. Slow down and be a little patient, hey...if you're the first car behind the equipment it would be especially nice of you to turn your flashers on for him and warn other drivers. Your destination will still be there! Be grateful for our farmers, you would be mighty hungry without them!

The BIG 3-0!

This Wednesday I will be 30 weeks. A little after I woke up this morning I felt the most amazing thing...not that all the movements aren't amazing, but today it felt like several of her limbs were hitting me at the same time. It was like she was trying to get all situated so she was just pushing and shoving on me. I am still feeling great, a little more tired and slower, but great.

As each day passes I get more and more excited! Saturday at the church Easter Egg Hunt I helped by volunteering. Our church has a parade where all the children bring their bikes, riding toys, wagons and every other thing imaginable. They make a big loop around the church in parade fashion. It was so fun watching all the children. Many of them have their rides decorated for Easter with bunnies, eggs and balloons. Next year Everly will be about 10 months at Easter. I can't wait for all of us to join in on the festivities. Yesterday, I was emailing a friend, LeeAnn, back and forth regarding my baby shower and I was excited once again!

Here is what's going on this week according to BabyCenter.
Your pregnancy: 30 weeks
See the big picture
How your baby's growing:Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter holiday. Let us remember the reason for the holiday throughout the year.

A few more of our favorite things...

I have been meaning to do this for a while, but time seems to be getting away from me. I can't imagine how fast the days will fly by once Everly is born. Here are a few pictures of just some of the sweet things we have been receiving from friends and family. The sweet shoes and door hanger are from a high school friend, Ame'. Her daughter Erica also had a Kelly B. Rightsell nursery, so she sent us this great door hanger. Thanks so much Ame' and Erica for thinking of us!
I bought the swimsuit. I am a HUGE fan of the beach and my birthday falls on Labor Day a lot of the time, so we're going to the beach that weekend. Little E will get her first taste of the beach at about 3 months old...so I couldn't resist buying this seersucker swimsuit!
B's mom already got Everly an Easter outfit for next year. I think this one is Amanda Remembered. It has the cutest little smocked bunnies on it! Thanks Ms. Donna!
Below is the diaper stacker that I finally got to hang up after the changing table arrived. Brett put it together in no time! Now, I need to find a few baskets for storage to go on the shelves. I love the fabric and think that it is perfect for our little girl! Also for the nursery is this darling little tea set. I had mentioned wanting to find one and Ms. Donna found this at an antique store in Dothan. I love it!
The other little outfit I bought when my cousin and I went shopping in Destin a few weeks ago. Carter's always has great sales and I just love their little outfits for everyday wear. Green is also my favorite color, so when I see a girl outfit that is green I jump on it!
We hope everyone is doing well. We are truly blessed!
