B is at it again....

being super sweet that is! Yesterday I went to the doctor for my 28 week check up. On my way home B called to see what we were going to have for dinner. I had thought about chicken salad, but I wasn't real sure. He asked if I wanted him to grill....of course! He said he was going to make a surprise and man was it yummy! I got him a cast iron cookset for Christmas. He has used it at the hunting camp, but never here at home. So last night he showed off his skills. He made new potatoes with onions, pork chops and peach cobbler...all on the grill. It was delicious! I can't say enough how much I appreciate my sweet husband!
By the way, Dr. G was very please with my progress. He gave me an A+...woo hoo! He said he hadn't give one all day. He said Everly's measurements were right on, my blood pressure and weight gain were great. So with that diagnosis, I don't have to go back for another four weeks. He said this is usually the time he makes expectant mothers start coming every two weeks. So I so thankful for the great visit. I guess my prenatal yoga is paying off. I actually feel great and am a little scared to see the second trimester go. It was so good to me! I need to think positive though and realize that every day is one step closer to B and I seeing Little E.

Spring Blooms

Over the weekend, B planted two rose bushes for me. I love the big, fragrant roses. I got a Double Delight(hot pink and white) and Broadway (dark pink and light pink). We also planted a tomato plant and a strawberry plant. We've never planted anything edible, so we thought we would practice with these this year.

A few weeks ago when our niece was here for Spring Break she also helped plant a few things in our hanging baskets. We had a great time shopping for plants and a new pot together. She also got her first pair of gardening gloves...hot pink of course.

Today I have my 28 week appointment. I don't think I ever mentioned that I passed my three hour glucose test, so far everything is going great.

Almost over...

The busiest week in recent memory is almost over....ahh, tomorrow is a day of freedom! Yesterday I didn't know how in the world I was going to make it to Dothan. I was so tired and the rain wasn't helping a thing. At 2:00 pm, Mrs. Martha (another worker at the preschool) asked if I wanted to leave early. Hallelujah! God is so wonderful. I was able to come home and take an hour nap before making the trip to Dothan for class. Everything has gone very well this week...especially for little Hunter Holland. He is now home with his parents, a real praise to the Lord! He has his halo and will make frequent trips to Birmingham, but he is home!

You can see his mom's latest journal update at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/hunterholland. Leave their family a little note of encouragement, I know they appreciate all the support from everyone.

Sorry everyone....I just noticed all of my links for Hunter's CaringBridge have been wrong. You can now use the above link.

Don't ever feel guilty about

a little me time. There are about 100 things (literally) that I need to be doing right now. I think I have seriously over booked myself from this past Thursday until next Friday. My cousin and family arrived late Wednesday night and are here until tomorrow. I love having family visit! The person that I am though thinks everything has to be perfect. I feel obligated to keep everyone entertained and happy. Also Thursday I have class in Dothan, then Friday we went to Destin all day and today I co-hosted a bridal shower, tomorrow I need to write a paper for Tuesday's class and get our house back in some order. Monday night we have the Farm/City Dinner, then I agreed to substitute for the director at the preschool all next week 8:00-3:00. On Tuesday & Thursday I will have to leave straight from work to go to school. Whew! This little mama is tired just thinking about it! So this afternoon on my way home from the bridal shower my cousin called to see if I wanted to go back to the beach. I actually said "No, I'm tired". I never do that...I always try to oblige...but today 'I" needed to rest! So, don't ever feel guilty about taking a little "me time" or as I like to call it "keep me sane time".

Oh no, I must go now....B's aunt and uncle are here from Nashville! ha ha...I actually called him to see if they were around...this "me time" is getting a little lonesome. I need to get outside and enjoy the rest of this beautiful day!

Is RSVP old fashioned?

This weekend I am co-hosting a bridal shower with several of my friends. I made and sent out invitations to about 50 guests. So far I have had three people contact to say that they will not be able to attend. Has RSVP just gone out of style? I know people are busy and hate to commit, but how is a hostess supposed to plan? I noticed this during our wedding when we were given showers by family members and friends. It's a shame for the hosts and hostess who spend all their time, not to mention money to make the shower just right for the guest(s) of honor.

I know this is way out of the blue, but I was online looking for quotes for a little something I want to work on for the nursery and found this lady's blog http://www.teapartygirl.com/why-dont-people-rsvp-and-bring-hostess-gifts#comment-3465 and I guess it kind of struck a nerve.

So what do you think? Is RSVPing old fashioned? If so, what's a hostess to do?

Hunter's Caringbridge

If you are a regular follower to our blog, you would have read about Hunter Holland. He is the infant son of our friends Russell and Dee Dee Holland. One of our very nice church members has set up a Caringbridge website to keep everyone updated on Hunter's progress. This little guy is in surgery as I type. Please visit his site and send his parents some words of encouragement. It doesn't matter if you know them or not. They truly appreciate knowing someone is praying for their precious child.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and thank God for your many blessings. Also, if you need Red Garter Revue tickets...contact me!

25 weeks

I just saw some stroller moms outside. They had a good pace going with their children happily seated in their strollers. I may have to stop these ladies one day if they continue this daily and ask if I can join the club soon. I was looking online the other day and came across Strollercize, exercise involving your child and strollers. It's only offered in big cities like New York and Miami. They do have some audio CDs available...so one day in the future I may be that weirdo on Three Notch doing weird things with her stroller. Please do not call DHR!

Today marks the big 25th week. I still haven't heard the results from my glucose test. The nurse said it may take 2-3 days, so I'll call tomorrow if I haven't heard anything. I am still feeling great, but my belly button hurts. Did this happen to anyone else? I fear it is soon time for the dreaded outtie to make it's appearance. My belly button hurts when I brush it against something, so I know space is limited.

We are preparing for my cousin Jill, her husband and their daughter to visit next week. Jill and I are only two weeks apart and even went to school together until my family moved to Alabama. So next week her husband is going turkey hunting, while us girls go shopping and to the beach. You know what that means...bathing suit shopping! If it were only B and I, I'd opt for a bikini (because I think I am a sun goddess)...but it's not. My cousin Jill has the tiniest little body you've ever seen...so I think I'll stick to the whole piece, which I probably have not worn since my favorite Speedo crossback from the 1980s.

We hope everyone is doing well. Happy Spring Y'all! (I know I'm early, but I'm loving this weather)

Has it been almost two weeks?

Time is once again flying by! It has been almost two weeks since our last post and we have been busy, busy! We (well B) painted the nursery, spent a day doing the Focus on Marriage seminar at our church(where each of us learned little things we can do to make our relationship stronger), had a huge snow day in Chilton County at my parent's house while celebrating my mother's 50th birthday, B went to Charlotte for a few days in the snow storm, worked at the Covington County Young Farmer's Petting Zoo, went to our 24 week appt. and I failed my first glucose test, took pictures for our church directory, went to a birthing class, B cleaned the yard, we had a cookout with B's parents, I went to do my three hour glucose test and had a Junior Woman's Club meeting. Whew! Are you tired from reading that long run-on sentence?

That is just a quick update of the things that we have been doing. If I were able to post after each of the different events, it would have been a lot more interesting. We have had a great time over the past few weeks and have enjoyed a lot of quality time together. If you ever get a chance to hear Gary Thomas speak, you should...he was our favorite speaker at Focus on Marriage. We have ordered his book, "Sacred Marriage" and can not wait to read it.

We had so much fun in Chilton County during the Big Snow of '09! B and our neice Nicole made a huge snowman. The other one is of some boys we passed on the side of the road, theirs had to be about seven feet! His name was Pedro...ha ha.

At our birthing class, we learned lots of ways for dealing with pain associated with labor. During one of the videos, a woman that had an epidural was giggling during one of her supposed worst contractions...hmmm...didn't seem quite right to us. So, along with my "coach" B, I decided to try as long as I could without an epidural. I would like to experience birth. Of course, I am not ruling out anything, as I have never done this before. The reactions I've had from several people seem to be...hmmpff! We'll see!! I'm very good at dealing with things my own way!

The Andalusia Junior Woman's Club is gearing up for the Red Garter Revue this weekend. Our theme this year is Fabulous Las Vegas. Tickets are still available, please contact me if you need one or a few! Friday may be a sell out, so get your tickets quickly!

Sorry this is so random, I'll try to do better!!
