Lovin' at our house...

When we registered we had no idea really where to start. After a little over a month with our sweet girl, we've found a few things that we're lovin'. The Boppy is probably the most versatile thing we own. We use it when nursing, to prop her up on and talk to her and take pictures, to take cat naps in the living room(I know the tag says not to before I get any comments...but we are right there...not taking a nap!). Medela Tendercare Lanolin is something that I really love! I registered for the Lansinoh lanolin and got samples of this from the hospital. This is much more smooth and easier to apply. I really helps in just a matter of what seems like minutes. I smooth a little on when I start to get sore and viola! all better.
We nor E could survive without Gripe Water! We tried Mylicon for a few days and all the suggested bicycle motion, warm baths, laying her on her belly and patting...while some of those worked nothing has compared to Gripe Water! She even actually likes sucking it out of her little medicine dropper.

These NUK bottles were another thing that we didn't register for but wished we would have. We started E out with Dr. Brown's bottles when B wanted to start feeding her in the evenings or when she went to Pop and Gimme's in the afternoon. The flow was so fast, even with the slow flow nipple, that she was finished with the entire 3 oz. of bm in less than five minutes...come on...it took me 20 minutes to pump that...at least she should be able to enjoy it! So while mom and I were shopping on Saturday I was going to buy another package of Dr. Brown's...just not knowing any better. Then I saw these, well I noticed the NUK brand (E only takes a NUK pacifier). I read the entire package and thought...well it's worth a try. They claimed to be more like breastfeeding. I truly believe they are...we're not wasting any of that liquid gold (my nickname for bm) anymore from it flowing too fast from the bottle's nipple. I am very happy with these. We got the 0+ months with the slow flow nipple. It takes about 20 minutes (about the same time she nurses) for her to drink 3 oz and she is thoroughly enjoying it.

Of course we can't leave out the greatest love we've got! This sweet little thing! This was taken Saturday as mom and I were trying to take a few pictures of her. She fell asleep between flashes!

One Month

On her actual one month birthday
Look at all that hair!

Lovin' bath time and sucking that thumb with her daddy
Where does the time really go? I can't believe E is already a month old. It has been an eventful month! Her sleep is getting better, last night she slept from 10:00 until 5:00. She woke up for a quick feeding and then went back to sleep until 7:45. B was so grateful! I got a four hour nap (long I know, but I could have kept sleeping!) yesterday while we were at Gimme's, but B went to work in the hayfields.
One E's one month birthday she had to go to the doctor for a shot. She took it like a champ. I was prepared to cry for her, but she was already crying when the nurse gave her a shot. Then when the nurse picked her up off the examination table she stopped! Funny girl!
Yesterday, we took E for her first big event...to her cousin Zane's graduation from Troy. She slept through the whole thing! The only time she saw any part of Troy at the inside of Sante Fe for a quick feeding, then back to sleep! She looked so precious in her bonnet and smocked bubble. I thought it was too big, but I tried it on her anyway. I'm so glad I did because soon it will be too small! I don't think I realize how much she is growing.
We are all so excited that my mom is coming to visit today! We are going to have fun, fun, fun!

For Grandmaw & Papaw

My mom fed me her first bottle. My daddy has fed me a few times from a bottle. We were having sushi in Dothan.
I got caught sucking my thumb during tummy time!

Laying on my quilt my Aunt Diane made me.

Getting buckled in to go see my Pop & Gimme.

Trying on my sunhat, that is still a little too big.

Grandmaw & Papaw,
Just wanted to show you what I've been up to lately! I can't wait to see you next weekend.

Love,
Everly

Two weeks...a little late

Tuesday Everly and I both had our two week check ups. She has gained five ounces since last week and grown one inch since birth. Dr. B was very pleased with her progress. She doesn't have to go back for two weeks for her one month appointment.
She is now grasping things, like the spindals on her changing table, so I attached some toys for her to pull on. She really likes her Eric Carle jingly elephant. Each day is totally different. Sometimes she only wakes up once a night, others she doesn't go to sleep until four in the morning. Some days I can lay her down for multiple hour naps, others she wants to be held all day long! All I say is, "We'll get it figured out."

After waiting over an hour (I don't mind waiting now...because I know people had to wait the day I gave birth. I don't know what I would have done if Dr. G wasn't able to be there)for my appointment I got the all clear to drive and Dr. G said my incision is healing great. He said I could start taking walks with the stroller, but I am still only allowed to do light housework...yipee! I have an excuse. B fed Everly her first bottle of pumped milk while I when to the exam room. After my appointment we went to Target to pick up a few odds and ends. I was in the lingerie section to get a few nursing bras (who knew you needed so many?) and B came over with some really cool Kanye West/Max Headroom shades. I've got pictures on my phone...which I can't currently get because I have a sleeping baby in my lap, but I will post later when Dada gets home. They are great and Everly was really impressed! We had fun though, oh the little things that make us laugh so hard.

Today will be the first outing for Everly and I alone. We are going to a friends house who is hosting a trunk show, then to B's office, then to the grocery store. We have to manage all of this in three hours before it's time for E to nurse again.

We had a couple of wonderful meals this week from sweet families at our church. I know I've said it before, but we love our church and our church family. I can't wait to get back in a few weeks.

Stay tuned for those pictures...they will be totally worth it! Oh and mom, I will post some pictures of Everly for you too! She can't wait to see her Grandmaw again soon!
